From the lowly kindergarten class to the lofty lecture hall of the university; from the first day at
the job market to the last day of active work on the job, we have employed our intellect and will at
getting ready for one thing or the other.
From the first cry at the cradle to the last breathe at death, we are either getting ready to live, or else
reluctantly succumbing to death; our lives are, for the most part, a long rehearsal of the basic principles necessary for survival in a temporal, difficult world, and we are soon gone before we have started fully living out our dreams!
Jas.4.14 – “How do you know what will happen tomorrow? For your life is like the morning fog–it’s here a little while, then it’s gone”. NLT
Have you ever taken thought for what lies beyond the horizon of your earthly life? The grave may hold
the corpse, but not so the soul; for no sooner is it liberated from the corpse than it takes its flight to judgment before the Almighty God who made it.
Eccl.12.7 – “For then the dust will return to the earth, and the spirit will return to God who gave it.
Eccl.12.8 – “All is meaningless,” says the Teacher, “utterly meaningless.” NLT.
Are you ready for the journey back home? We spend so much time, energy and recourses trying to live
the best we can in an imperfect society within a dying world when, meanwhile, there’s a grander life to be had in a perfect world, where the eternal God dwells with all of His Redeemed departed from the earth; that is where to be ready for!
Jesus said to those who faithfully followed Him:
John.14.1 – “Don’t be troubled. You trust God, now trust in me.
John.14.2 – There are many rooms in my Father’s home, and I am going to prepare a place for you. If this were not so, I would tell you plainly.
John.14.3 – When everything is ready, I will come and get you, so that you will always be with me where I am.” NLT
When will you be ready to begin your quest for heaven? Did I hear you say soon? Or, not now ? Alas! You must know that far too often many a soul has walked on the very precipice of eternity, but their treacherous heart had persuaded them to selfish indulgence and wanton living – assuring them that they’d surely live on for many more years and repent at last; but at death they fell headlong into the dark regions of the after life, unprepared for what lies ahead. They went to where the souls of the unrepentant and unsaved must have what’s coming to them in righteous and furious judgment.
Luke.12.19 – “And I’ll sit back and say to myself, My friend, you have enough stored away for years to come. Now take it easy! Eat, drink, and be merry!’
Luke.12.20 – “But God said to him, ‘You fool! You will die this very night. Then who will get it all?’
Luke.12.21 – “Yes, a person is a fool to store up earthly wealth but not have a rich relationship with God.” NLT.
Are you ready? Oh, be ready! for life on earth is full of illusion while the greatest realities, though unseen to the naked eye, lie beyond this
temporal world.
All that has been, all that there is now, and all that will ever be, here in this world, are a mere shadow of the true riches and glory of God’s
heavenly Kingdom. Only Jesus Christ is true and eternal in this world.
John.11.25 – “Jesus told her, “I am the resurrection and the life. Those who believe in me, even though they die like everyone else, will live again.
John.11.26 – They are given eternal life for believing in me and will never perish..” NLT.
Do you believe this, reader? Would you now be made ready for etemal life by Jesus Christ? If you do, then know that you must be bom again; you must repent of all your sins, confess, sincerely forsake them and then invite Jesus Christ to come into your life and be your personal Lord and Saviour.
John.1.12: “Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God — (NIV)
John.1.13: children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God”. (NIV)
